Making Major Moves...
Born and raised in San Diego, California, Tyrah Majors is an award-winning journalist, university professor, and author with a deep love for storytelling. She currently works as an anchor and reporter at KOMO News, the ABC affiliate in Seattle, where she anchors daily newscasts and reports on local, national, and international stories. She also helped create ARC Seattle, a conversation-style news program that dives deeper into the issues shaping the community, with a strong focus on digital storytelling.

Before joining KOMO, Majors worked as a morning news reporter at CBS/FOX Bakersfield, covering everything from breaking national news to meaningful community stories. Her career has also included roles at NBC 4 Los Angeles, NBC 7 San Diego, FOX 5 San Diego, and several entertainment news outlets, helping shape her versatile, multimedia approach to journalism.

In addition to her work in the newsroom, Majors is a college professor at Seattle University, where she created and teaches a course focused on social media, mobile-first reporting, and modern news storytelling. She is also the creator and host of the digital talk show Major Moves with Tyrah Majors, which highlights millennial entrepreneurs and emerging leaders.

Majors holds a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism from California State University, Fullerton, and a Master of Science degree in Journalism from the University of Southern California. She is a two-time Emmy Award winner, a recipient of the 2021 Golden Mike Award, and was named to Forbes 30 Under 30 in Media in 2026—recognized as one of the youngest Black women in a lead on-air role in a major U.S. market.

Outside of work, Majors enjoys spending time with family, heading to the beach, and discovering new restaurants.
